Status Update (June 2026)

DISTANCE makes the heart grow fonder. And now, here we are with the project waking from hiatus. It's nice to be back. And with updates on things!

"Refresh Update" Status

So, the reboot has been going in an interesting direction. For one, I don't think it's fair to realistically call it the "Refresh Update" anymore. At this point, it's evolved so much that the game's name is going to be completely updated. We don't want to reveal that yet until we've made more progress on the game, but for now, we've been temporarily referring to it as "DELTATRAVELER Neo." We also have a new temporary logo based on the new name logo!

We updated our socials not too long ago using this new sort of branding style, and we're super proud of it. Hopefully it won't be too long before we're able to reveal the new name to y'all. We'll also probably be releasing a revamped website when we reveal the new name, but I just wrote that just now when revising this devlog, so we'll see.

Oh also, random thing; We're gonna start referring to "Sections" as "Chapters" going forward. The whole "Section" terminology felt pretty forced in retrospective, and because we're focusing more on story in Neo, we feel emphasizing that with "Chapter" terminology is more natural. Speaking of Chapters...

New Team Name

Previously, our team name used to be just the "DELTATRAVELER Team." But we felt it'd be nicer to have a proper name that isn't just "GAME NAME TEAM." So, after discussing amongst ourselves, we decided to call ourselves "Team Cinnabun"! It's a lot nicer and cuter, and also has a super cute logo to boot! (Designed by Nelle fox!)

We also created a YouTube channel specifically for the game, in the form of the Team Cinnabun YouTube channel. On there will be OST drops for DELTATRAVELER Neo, small previews and teasers that otherwise wouldn't go on the VyletBunni channel, among other things...? We haven't posted anything on there yet, but I hope it'll be a neat resource.

New Chapter 5 Setting

So, to anyone that's aware, the original plan we announced for where Chapter 5 would take place was Starlight Isles in TS!UNDERSWAP. We've been in some recent talks with Team Switched, and we ultimately came to the conclusion that as the chapter is planned out right now, it would be too much of a strain on both teams to do the original idea as is, since it requires a LOT of collaboration to make it work. We also feel that scaling back would be sort of weirdly disrespectful to the concept. So, we decided that Chapter 5 should not take place in TS!UNDERSWAP.

This doesn't really have anything to do with Beethovenus temporarily leaving both Team Switched and Team Cinnabun. We just felt that the effort was too detrimental to both teams; Team Switched especially. I may try to inject TS!UNDERSWAP characters somewhere in the game to make up for it, but we'll see. Regardless, you should check out TS!UNDERSWAP if you haven't. Really cool game :3

Regarding where Chapter 5 will be taking place NOW, we've figured out what it should be, and have locked down a collab that isn't as tightly integrated. But we aren't ready to announce it just yet! We want to give the idea time to brew in the pot before we announce it properly... though we might let it slip elsewhere. Stay tuned... If I can figure out where that cat ran off to, that is.

One Last DELTATRAVELER Classic Update...?

You're probably aware that we've done v3.1.0 public testing over the course of 2025. You also might be aware that the latest build of that is not of the best quality; having a crash in one of the major routes. I thought about this, and decided that we should probably put out one last update for the classic version of DELTATRAVELER; wrapping up all the QoL changes we made to the game before turning it into a reboot.

There are a handful of extra additions and tweaks that we also ported over from DELTATRAVELER Neo, which includes updated run animations from DELTARUNE Chapters 3 & 4, new UNOTRAVELER music tracks, and a Light World Options menu via the Cellphone key item. We also put in some extra teasing for DELTATRAVELER Neo at the end of the game... Hopefully this makes up for the (checks notes) 2 full years without a substantial update to the game. Sorry, haha.

This is also going to be the first official release on macOS! I've been figuring out the process with TS!UNDERSWAP (since I'm helping with the macOS release there, too), and I think I have it all down, which was honestly super painful to figure out. Thanks, Apple. Also, this is going to be the first release version to not support Android. We talked about this in the 3 Year Anniversary devlog that we won't be supporting Android anymore, and this is where we draw the line, since v3.1.0 is the first version of the game to use Unity 6 compared to the 2018 versions.

I'm hoping that this release ends up being worth the effort for however long DELTATRAVELER Classic remains relevant.

And that's it for now! I hope it won't be too long until v3.1.0 releases. Hoping for sometime this summer, but we'll see, I suppose.
